Description
Step into a lost world of ancient temperate rainforest equal to any on Earth…yet not hear a sound except the serenade of lyrebirds. Come and walk in solitude through a different rainforest so rare, most people have never heard of it, and far fewer will ever see it. The Grand Strzelecki Track, totalling 110km, comprises one and two-day hiking loops and a two-day hike one-way, linking Tarra Bulga and Morwell National Parks. Hikes range from approximately 18km to 27km and have choices of free and paid rest areas for camping. Do one hike or do all hikes, offering up to 5-days of serenity and beautiful distant vistas. The Map set includes 5 topographic maps and a planning map so you can experience this unique part of Victoria.

CURRENT ROAD CLOSURES
Tarra Valley Road from Yarram to Tarra-Bulga National Park. This is due to a significant rain event causing surface damage.
Use Bulga Park Road from Yarram (South Gippsland Highway) or Traralgon-Balook Road from Traralgon (Princes Highway).
CURRENT AND UPCOMING TRACK CLOSURES (also check forestry operations below for additional closures).
1. Current closure: Macks Creek Loop partly closed. Due to severe storm damage, the full length of Wild Cherry Track remains closed and expected to reopen once the track dries and machinery can operate without causing track damage. This means there is no access to the lower section of Macks Creek to Roberts Road. Use Bulga Park Road from Tarra-Bulga National Park Visitor Centre Carpark to Macks Creek Hall Carpark Rest Area if you wish to hike there and back the same way.
2. Current closure: Tarra Valley Loop partly closed. Tarra Valley Link Track (only applies from the caravan parks to Diaper Track) section is closed pending clearing. Either hike that section along Tarra Valley Road or park a vehicle at the Tarra Valley Picnic Area Carpark.
3. Current closure: Park-To-Park Track fully closed. Due to severe storm damage, all sections of Billys Creek from Morwell National Park to Tarra-Bulga National Park including Jumbuck Rest Area are closed. Expected to reopen late 2024.
